On May 14, 2025, I visited Atlanta's Museum of Illusions, which I had been looking forward to visiting since I moved to this city. The experience turned out to be wonderful. The staff were always willing to help. Hope there will be a museum of illusions in China someday.

The Penrose triangle
I talk about it in my master's thesis. Perception of this triangle casts some prima facie doubt on the no inconsistency law of appearance. Could a single complex perceptual representation have an inconsistent content? Could the contents of two distinct simultaneous simple experiential representations be inconsistent? The answer to the first question seems obvious. I am not sure about the correct answer the second question.
An ambiguous figure I had never seen
The classic Müller-Lyer illusion
The same picture illuminated by different colored lights. Different figures stand out under different lights. How should we explain the phenomenal character of these experiences? I hesitate to explain them in terms of representing different situation-dependent properties. For it's dubious that we can perceptually represent such relational properties as situation-dependent properties.
The squares are revolving around you. The visual signals trick you to believe you are spinning, making it hard for you to keep balance. Is this multimodal perception or cognitive penetration? I am inclined to the former explanation.
